Welcome to the hfrmobile newsletter 2007-01#29! Thank you for subscribing to the hfrmobile newsletter in order to stay informed about new applications, bug fixes, problems and their solutions. This is the first newsletter in this year. I have planned to send this 2006-12 but I had no time to do so. Sorry. So some news maybe not new for some of you. Specially for those who have subscribed to my RSS feed or reading What's New at hfrmobile.com. -- Voyager 3.1 Beta1 Released the first beta of Voyager 3.1! There is still Version 3.0 online but for WM2005 users I recommend already to use 3.1 Beta1 which fixes some WM2003 and WM2005 issues (specially file type icons+indicators). There are sill some little issues in this beta (e.g. ArgumentNullException error messge while listing files). This will be fixed in the final 3.1! Of course 3.1 will work on PPC2002 too. So I still use my "old" Fujitsu Siemens Pocket LOOX 600 with PPC2002. Also using TTN3 on this device. Both things work good again. Details and photos on my MSN blog. This device only made problems and i-mate support isn't good. My SP3i stopped working. It worked but I couldn't unlock the device because the left Softkey don't worked. There where a lot of others with same problems with this device (newsgroups, including i-mate newsgroups). But no solution. I bought this device with 400 Euro. Today I am using a HTC S310 with WM2005 for 214 Euro. This device works better in every aspect. Read the whole story in English and German on my MSN blog. Known problems with umlauts and some other minor issues which will be fixed in the final release. URL: http://www.hfrmobile.com/app_PDAStore_T1/index.htm#r_PDASCMD -- McAfee SiteAdvisor Some days ago I found McAfee SiteAdvisor on the web. Looks fine and I think it can be make surfing safer. I am using the SiteAdvisor plug-in on IE7 and Firefox 1.5.0.9! On FF it works a bit better because the SiteAdvisor symbol is located in the taskbar. On IE7 it is in the toolbar and wastes some space. But it works. Of course www.hfrmobile.com was rated: We tested this site and didn't find any significant problems. They also tested 159(!) downloads on my pages and all are green :-) To put this in other words: McAfee SiteAdvisor is a valuable and free service. There is no plug-in available for mobile browsers like PIE, Opera Mini or Minimo but maybe in the future? I hope so! URL1: http://www.siteadvisor.com URL2: http://www.mcafee.com -- Remote Command 1.52 Information for Remote Command 1.52 (RMCD) users. If you are using ActiveSync 4.2 or even 4.5 Beta2 you may have some problems with it. For example the tskedit command may not work. See topic above. Often there are good reasons to not always use the newest version of (Microsoft) software ;-) If you need the tskedit command you should prefer (if you can) ActiveSync 3.8! If you are not using the tskedit command you may use AS 4.2 because all other commands seems to work well with this AS version. -- Remote Display Control 2.03 If you are using Remote Display Control 2.03 from Microsoft you may have seen that it not works with WM2005 devices. I hope that Microsoft will fix this. So I am in the situation that I have to present a mobile application which I have written for my company to our employees and I have to find another way to do. I googled and found a workaround and I hope it works (have not tried it). Since the original Microsoft url has 108 characters I used http://tinyurl.com to make it shorter.
